Session and Permanent Cookies
All
areas of the Daughters & Company® Web Site may use a standard
technology called a "cookie" to collect information about
how you use the site and to save information to make it easier for
you to navigate the site.
Session Cookie - A session cookie is a piece of data stored on your
hard drive, containing information about you, but usage of a cookie
is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information about
you while you are on our site. Once you close your browser, the cookie
simply terminates and should be removed from your hard drive by the
browser. For instance, by setting a cookie on our site, you would
not have to log in a password more than once to access the Service
Center, thereby saving your time while on our site. If you reject
the cookie, you may still use our site. The only drawback to this
is that you will be limited to some areas of our site. For example,
you will not be able to participate in any of our contests or surveys
which may take place on our site. Cookies can also enable us to track
and target the interests of our customers to enhance the experience
on our site.
Permanent Cookie - A permanent cookie survives on your hard drive
after your browser is closed. If Permanent Cookies are used, you will
be given an advisory before we place the cookie on your hard drive.
These cookies can be removed by disabling the feature that activated
it, or removing it from your browser options.
The Daughters & Company® site may
include links or advertisements to other sites that may use cookies
once the link is selected. However,
we have no access to, or control over, these cookies. Please check
the Privacy Policies of these sites before linking to them if you
have cause for concern.
Log Files
We use IP addresses to analyze trends,
administer the site, track your movement on our site, and gather broad
demographic information
for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable
information in the Public Web site. They may be so linked in the
Service Center.
Sharing
We may share aggregated demographic information with our partners
and strategic allies. This is not linked to any personal information
that can identify any individual person.
We partner with others to provide some specific services. When a
Client signs up for these services, we will share names, or other
contact information necessary for the third party to provide these
services. These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable
information except for the purpose of providing the services as requested.
Links
This Web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that
Daughters & Company® is not responsible for the privacy
practices of such other sites. We encourage you to be aware that
when you leave our site, you should read the privacy statements
of each and every Web site that collects personally identifiable
information. This Privacy Policy applies solely to information collected
by this Daughters & Company® Web site.
Newsletter
If you wish to subscribe to our newsletter, we ask for contact information
such as name and email address. This information is not shared with
third parties.
Surveys & Contests
From time to time, our Web site may request information from you via
surveys or contests. Participation in these surveys or contests
is completely voluntary, and you therefore have a choice whether
or not to disclose this information. Information requested may include
contact information (such as name and shipping address), and demographic
information (such as zip code, age level). Contact information will
be used to notify the winners and award prizes. Survey information
will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and
satisfaction of this site.
Security
We will take every precaution to protect your personal information.
When you submit sensitive information via the Web site, your information
is protected both online and off-line.
If we should ask for sensitive information (such as credit card number
and/or social security number), that information is encrypted and
protected with the best encryption software in the industry: 128-bit
SSL. While on a secure page, the lock icon on the bottom of Web browsers
such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes
locked, as opposed to unlocked, or open, when you are just 'surfing'.
To learn more about SSL, follow this link.
While we use SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online,
we also do everything in our power to protect your information off-line.
All of our users' information, not just the sensitive information
mentioned above, is restricted in our offices. Only employees who
need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing
clerk or a customer service representative) are granted access to
personally identifiable information. Our employees must use password-protected
accounts to access customer information. Furthermore, ALL employees
are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices.
If you have any questions about the security at our Web site, you
can send an email to acctadmin@daughtersonline.com.
Welcome E-mail
We send all Clients and those affiliated with our Client a welcoming
E-mail to verify password and login for access to the Service Center.
Special Offers
Established members will occasionally receive information on products,
services, special deals, and a newsletter. Out of respect for the
privacy of our customers we present the option to opt out of these
types of communications. Please see our choice and opt-out below.
Site and Service Updates
We also send you site and service announcement updates. You will note
be able to unsubscribe from service announcements, which contain
important information about this Web site or Daughters & Company® services.
We communicate with you about requested services and in regard to
issues relating to the Client’s account via email or phone.
Correction/Updating Personal Information
If the personally identifiable information of a Client changes, or
your personally identifiable information (such as the zip code),
or if a Client no longer desires our services, we will endeavor
to provide a way to correct, update or remove the personal data
provided to us. This can usually be done by emailing us at acctadmin@daughtersonline.com or calling the Daughters & Company® office at (913) 780-2250.
Choice/Opt-out
You are given the opportunity to 'opt-out' of having your information
used for purposes not directly related to our site at the point
where we ask for the information. For example, if you wish to have
a Service Center account, but don't want to receive the Daughters & Company® newsletter,
you can keep your email address off our distribution list.
Notification of Changes
If we decide to change the Privacy Policy, we will post those changes
on our Home page so users will always be aware of what information
we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any,
we disclose it. If at any point we decide to use personally identifiable
information in a manner different from that stated in our Privacy
Policy at the time it was collected, we will notify you by email.
You will have a choice as to whether or not we use your information
in this different manner. We will use information in accordance
with the Privacy Policy under which the information was collected.
